Cấu trúc và quy tắc “câu hỏi đuôi”

Câu hỏi đuôi là gì?

Câu hỏi Đuôi (Tag Question) là một dạng câu hỏi yes-no, được đặt ở sau và được phân cách với mệnh đề trần thuật bằng một dấu phẩy. Nếu mệnh đề trần thuật ở dạng phủ định thì câu hỏi đuôi sẽ ở dạng khẳng định và ngược lại.

Cách dùng:

• Câu hỏi đuôi dùng để xác định xem thông tin ở mệnh đề trần thuật có đúng không.
• Ngoài ra, câu hỏi đuôi được thêm vào để thể hiện cảm xúc

Ví dụ:

He is a doctor, isn’t he? ( anh ấy là bác sĩ, phải không?)

He didn’t complete their homework, did he? (Anh ấy đã không hoàn thành bài tập về nhà của anh ấy đúng không?)

Cấu trúc:

Main Clause	Tag question
Positive S + trợ động từ/tobe + V, He is handsome,	Negative trợ động từ/tobe + not + S? is he?
Negative S + trợ động từ/tobe + not + V, He didn’t come here,	Positive trợ động từ/tobe + S? did he?

Các trường hợp đặc biệt:

I am	I am a translator, aren’t I?  I am not sick, am I?
let’s	Let’s go outside, shall we?
everyone, everybody, anybody, anyone	Everyone speaks English, don’t they?
nobody	Nobody remembered my date of birth, did they?
nothing, no one	Nothing is special, is it?
someone	Someone isn’t here, are they?
never, seldom, hardly, little, few	She hardly eats bread, does she?
it seems that	It seems that it is going to rain, isn’t it?
to v	To play video games doesn’t entertain us much, does it?
clause	What I am hearing is very interesting, isn’t it?
command sentence	Do sit down, will you?  Don’t make noise, will you?
i wish	She wishes she would become beautiful, may she?
one	One can play this song, can’t you?
must	I must work a lot to meet the deadline, needn’t I?  They must come home late, mustn’t they?  He must come early, doesn’t he?
what a/an…, how…, such a/an…	What a lovely kitten, isn’t it?
I think/ feel/ expect	I believe the fairies exist, don’t they? I don’t think she can do it, can’t she?
had better, would rather	You had better go to school early, hadn’t you?
used to	She used to live here, didn’t she?
